
She grew up in Schenectady, New York, and at some point the path led south to Florida, where she was doing the kind of work you do when you're figuring it out: bartending at a beachfront club called The Elbo Room, shifts at a sex shop, stripping at local clubs. That's where Peter North found her. She flew to California, signed with a then-new agency, and was working almost immediately.
Before she had really settled into performing, she was already being given the camera. A two-year contract gave her both acting and directing responsibilities at the same time — an unusual arrangement that said something about how she was being read by the industry.
In the middle of all of it, she entered a Playboy TV reality competition — Jenna's American Sex Star — and made it to the final round before losing. She doesn't talk much about that publicly. What she has said is harder to find than you'd expect for someone with her profile. The Hall of Fame induction came later, long after her peak output, which is usually how it goes.
