Karenjit Kaur Vohra was born in Sarnia, Ontario, to a Punjabi Sikh family, and began performing under the name Sunny Leone in the early 2000s. She signed with Penthouse and was named Pet of the Year in 2003, which established her profile well before the decade was out.
Her work across Vivid Entertainment — where she held a contract — defined her adult career. The Vivid contract brought consistent visibility, a curated catalogue, and the kind of institutional backing that kept her name in circulation long after many of her contemporaries had faded.
In 2012 she entered the Indian reality series Bigg Boss as a contestant and the cultural response was extraordinary — part outrage, part fascination, entirely sustained. She did not retreat from it. She parlayed the attention into a Bollywood acting career, appearing in a string of Hindi films and music videos that reached audiences numbering in the hundreds of millions. It remains one of the more audacious career pivots in the industry's recent history.
She has since expanded into production, cosmetics, and brand work in India, while maintaining a presence on OnlyFans. The adult work and the mainstream celebrity have never been kept entirely separate — which is, depending on your perspective, either the most radical thing about her or simply the most honest.
