Raised in the Bronx on The Cranberries and Rage Against The Machine, Stormi Maya built a career across modeling and acting before committing fully to music. Cinnamon Babe emerged as her primary vehicle—not just a band, but a deliberate statement. She has positioned the project as a platform for processing her experiences as a survivor, centering BIPOC and queer solidarity in both her public messaging and artistic direction. The nu-metal revival provided her a natural home, a genre historically tied to raw emotional catharsis. Rather than chasing industry validation, Maya has framed her work as personal testimony first, using the music to articulate truths she describes as essential to her narrative.
