Peter North

He was born Alden Brown in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and moved to California in his mid-twenties. Before anyone knew him as Peter North, he was performing under the name Matt Ramsey in gay adult film — both as a top and a bottom — a detail he has never hidden but that rarely makes it into the hagiographic write-ups. The transition to straight film came quickly, and the name that followed was his own invention: a pun on anatomy, geometry, and geography that he has explained publicly with a completely straight face.

What made his story unusual for a male performer of his era was the pivot into ownership. Rather than remaining purely in front of the camera, he built infrastructure around himself — a production company, a signature series, a directorial catalog — at a time when few male performers had the leverage or the inclination to do so. The nickname the industry gave him, The Sperminator, became a brand before branding was the word anyone used. What his life looks like now, outside of the credits, he has kept largely to himself.
