So I thought I’d do another fashion post to split up all the skincare I’ve been hyping about recently. It’s frustrating for me to sit down and write fashion blogs as so often for me, I use clothes that I’ve had for a long time. I’m not one of those girls that buys new clothes on a daily basis, I try to buy staple items that can be re-styled to look different with a number of different outfits.
This then means that I find so many items I wear go out of stock by the time I’ve come to write about them, but now that my blog is fully up & running, I’ll try to style new outfits as quickly as possible so anyone wanting to buy the items can stand a chance of getting their hands on them. I’ve tried my very best to source comparable items at similar price points, so make sure to check ’em out if you’re looking for something similar.
This is my first ‘everyday fashion’ blog post covering a few looks I posted about on Instagram. My style is very fluid; some days I can be very structured, or very feminine, others I look like a band groupie or quite simply homeless. It’s all about balance!
My style has become way more grungy recently, more so for comfort over anything else. Slip on Vans or trainers are so much comfier for walking through the city; you won’t find me in heels unless it’s an absolute essential. Also, baggy tees and ripped jeans always seem like a comfier option than a ruffled blouse or pencil skirt. Hopefully you’ll see diversity in my style, that’s what I aim for. I do feel like I’m missing my girlier days recently so you may see a few more dresses and neutrals come in to play soon.
Here are my most recent Instagram looks with links to the items.
I wore this recently when I went out for food in Manchester but I’d literally just trade the heels for white Yeezy’s to wear throughout the day.
H&M Slub Jersey Vest Top – Grey/Beige – £3.99 – Size XS
I bought this vest in my recent H&M Haul and I love it. It drapes really nicely so it stays baggy, the fabric is thin but soft and looks good both loose and knotted. In my opinion these are so much more fashionable than basic figure-hugging cami vests, which I think look more like gym wear.
Topshop MOTO Joni Jeans – White – £45.00 – Size W24 L30
These are an absolute wardrobe staple. I’ve had these for literally 5 years and they’re still in amazing condition. They are the comfiest jeans with elastic woven in to the fibres to make them really stretch to flatter your figure. Clean white jeans are a must on every girls’ wardrobe.
Missguided Satin Lace Up Gladiator Heels – Black – £30.00 – Size 4
These are my favourite ever heels, I don’t really wear any other shoes. I love the lace detailing; I always get complimented and told they look designer. I actually bought them as they’re inspired by the DSquared2 Riri Lace Up Sandals made famous by Rihanna. It sounds weird but I genuinely think they flatter the feet, making them narrower looking and your arches appear higher. When these come back in stock in my size I’ll be buying another pair as I’m so scared of over-wearing my current pair.
Unfortunately the exact layer necklace is out of stock, but it will be back soon, I promise! I posted a similar alternative so you can get the look. I usually only wear gold jewellery, I’ve always been obsessed with skinny gold chains, so I really loved this layered collection when I spotted it. I took inspiration from Kim Kardashian with this necklace; I love it as an accessory.
Saint Laurent Sac De Jour Croc Tote Bag – Fog – £1,925 – Small – FarFetch
This is my new favourite bag, it makes every outfit so much classier – I love wearing it with everything from leggings & trainers through to a really dressed up evening look. I got the Small size which is perfect for what I need. It looks great both worn on the arm & over the shoulder. My very kind friend Sarah sourced this for me as it was in the sale last month and I just needed it – it was a massive treat and my most expensive purchase to date but I’d had my eye on it for nearly 6 months so I knew it was a worthy investment.
One of my favourite things to do is to mix really affordable pieces with designer items to create unique looks. I definitely think bags are the best designer purchase you can make if you are considering splurging on something expensive. If they’re cared for correctly, they retain their value very well and can transform an outfit entirely. Items like shoes wear badly, no matter how well you treat them, and clothes go in and out of fashion so fast that I see them as a waste of money, especially when there’s so many similar designs available on the high street.
Forever 21 Black Square Neck Cami Bodysuit – Black – £6.30 – Size XS
The exact bodysuit I’m wearing is actually from H&M and was online up until last week but it’s sadly gone offline. I’m not sure if it’ll be making a reappearance, so keep your eyes peeled, but this Forever 21 bodysuit is almost identical and really affordable. They restock sizes really fast so keep an eye out online for smaller sizes reappearing. I wear this bodysuit alllll the time; I love the really skinny straps and the square neckline.
Missguided Black Longline Jersey Midi Skirt – Black – £10.00 – Size 4
This skirt is such a staple and it’s so flattering & affordable. Only problem is it’s quite constricting on my knees as there isn’t a slit seen in at the back, so I have to take narrower steps, which feels really strange, but it’s cute as long as you don’t need to sprint anywhere!
Vans Classic Slip On – Black & White Check – £49.99 – Size 4 – Office
These are my favourite shoes ever, they literally go with everything. They’re super comfy, they slip on so they’re basically children’s shoes and I just think they add a bit of edginess to each outfit. I also think they look cute the more I wear them down; all the scuffs and grazes add to the grungy effect. My biggest regret is getting rid of my old ones that I wore as an actual Emo circa 2008, who’d have known they’d come back!
MAC Cosmetics Lipstick – Russian Red – £16.50
I think this outfit becomes way more cohesive with a bright lip. I love wearing red lipstick when I have a tan and I always think it draws attention to the rest of my outfit. It makes the whole outfit look cleaner and more sophisticated, in my humble opinion.
Bag – Same As Above (Saint Laurent)
Zara High Waist Vintage Leggings – Faded Black – £25.99 – Size 6
Zara went from being one of my least favourite places to buy jeans, to an overnight favourite. Their jeans used to be thick, stiff and really uncomfortable, but they’ve recently upped their elastane content in their choice of fabrics, meaning their new styles are thinner and stretchier. I find their jeans so comfortable and really figure-hugging, plus they’re so affordable in comparison to the likes of Topshop and their quality is much better than that of Asos. I really recommend buying a pair, they have a really amazing denim selection now.
Missguided Camouflage Trucker Jacket – £40.00 – size 4
I forgot I had this jacket for a long time but I actually love it. Camouflage is one of my favourite fabrics, it’s really grungy and boyish, and adds a contrast to neutral outfits. I love khaki as a colour, especially with a tan, and I like the way the relaxed fit drapes when its worn in an oversized boyfriend style. I’ll definitely be wearing this jacket more.
Public Desire Alia Strappy Perspex Heels – £29.99 – Size 3
I actually bought these exact heels from Simmi but they’re no longer in stock, however the above ones from Public Desire are identical and half the price. Even though they aren’t that high, the sole of the shoe is very thin, meaning they’re not that comfy. They definitely aren’t ideal for a night out dancing, but are a nice choice for dinner or drinks, as long as you’re not spending the night on your feet. I like the style as they’re very minimalistic and elongate my short legs.
Liars & Lovers Extra Large Thin Gold Hoops – £6.00 – Asos
Large hoop earrings are one of my all time favourite accessories. I just think everyone should have a pair, unless you’re Gretchen Wieners. They add a bit of hooch to every look and make me feel like J Lo for a hot minute. I do think you need to be careful with your hair when you wear hoops though, as your look can go tooooo Bronx. I love them with my hair down straight or with a low bun, but add an overly fussy hairstyle and you can end up looking like a Music Video Girl for Fat Joe Circa ’02 (or Justine Littlewood…)
Vest Top – Same As Above (H&M)
Bag – Same As Above (Saint Laurent)
So here’s a few of my everyday outfits that have featured on Instagram recently. I’ll try & keep up to date with my clothes hauls so you can re-purchase items straight away if you want to get my exact look. Let me know if you pick up and items and also what you’d like to see me post next!
